Son Tra Peninsula
Son Tra is the green peninsula northeast of the urban area. It is the main option when you want nature without a long transfer: viewpoints, roads, Linh Ung Pagoda, and coastline. Access to some roads can be regulated depending on weather and safety conditions.
Marble Mountains
The Marble Mountains are limestone hills south of the centre with caves, stairs, pagodas, and viewpoints. Wear decent shoes and avoid the strongest midday heat if possible.
Han River and bridges
Urban Da Nang is easiest to understand along the river: bridges, promenades, cafés, and evening lighting show the city as more than a beach resort.
Hai Van Pass
Hai Van Pass links the Da Nang area with the route toward Hue and is known for coastal views. Treat it as a dedicated outing rather than a one-hour checkbox. Use safe transport and account for weather.
Three-day plan
| Day | Idea |
|---|---|
| 1 | City → Han River → My Khe → evening on the beach side |
| 2 | Son Tra → Linh Ung → northern coast |
| 3 | Marble Mountains → south, or a separate Hai Van route |
Hoi An and Hue
Both are easy to visit from Da Nang, but they should not be treated as Da Nang city attractions. Hoi An works as a half-day or full-day trip; Hue more often deserves a full day of its own.
Questions and answers
What should I definitely see in Da Nang?
Son Tra, Marble Mountains, the urban coastline, and the Han River centre are the core first-visit set.
How many days do I need?
Two to four days for Da Nang itself; longer if you use it as a base for Hoi An and Hue.
Is Hai Van Pass worth it?
Yes if you enjoy scenic road trips; give it dedicated time and check weather conditions.
Can I visit Hoi An from Da Nang?
Yes. It is one of the easiest short trips, but Hoi An is a separate destination.
