Long Beach
A long west-coast strip beside much of the island's main tourist infrastructure. It is the easiest place to combine the beach with restaurants, hotels, and access to Duong Dong. Sunsets are one of the west coast's main strengths.
Sao Beach
Sao Beach in the south is commonly chosen for a dedicated beach day. It is not necessarily the best reference for choosing where to live if most of your everyday life is in the centre or on the west coast.
Ong Lang
A quieter west-coast scenario. It suits people who want a beach stay without a dense urban environment, although restaurants and services are less concentrated than around Duong Dong or Long Beach.
Vung Bau and Ganh Dau
Northern beaches feel more natural and suit travellers willing to go farther for quiet. Check road access and nearby services before travelling; island distances are more noticeable than they look on a map.
How to choose a beach
| You want | Look at |
|---|---|
| Live by the sea without losing access to services | Long Beach |
| Quieter but not completely remote | Ong Lang |
| A scenic day trip | Sao Beach |
| Nature and lower density | Vung Bau / Ganh Dau |
| Sunset | West coast |
Seasonality
Different sides of the island respond differently to wind and seasonal weather. A beach that looks ideal in winter can be very different in the rainy season. Before booking a long stay, check the seasonal pattern for the exact side of the island you are considering.
