Brazilian and Spanish newspapers have highlighted Vietnam's VinFast - Trống Đồng stadium, which is designed to hold 135,000 spectators.
Brazil's Globo Esporte writes that VinFast - Trống Đồng is designed for 135,000 seats. If the project is completed as planned, it will surpass North Korea's Rungrado 1st of May Stadium and become the world's largest stadium by capacity.
VinFast - Trống Đồng could also surpass India's Narendra Modi Stadium, a cricket venue with capacity for about 132,000 spectators.
This would make VinFast - Trống Đồng the world's largest stadium when venues for all sports are considered.
The Brazilian newspaper also reports that the project began in December 2025. The stadium has attracted attention for its golden domed roof, whose design is inspired by bronze drums, a traditional cultural symbol of Vietnam. Construction is expected to finish in July 2027, earlier than the original August 2028 schedule.
Spain's TieneLore also focused on VinFast - Trống Đồng's huge capacity. Brazil's legendary Maracanã holds only 78,000 spectators, while Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu holds about 83,000. Both would look small beside the 135,000-seat VinFast - Trống Đồng if the project is completed.

The Spanish newspaper adds that VinFast - Trống Đồng could hold everyone at the Bernabéu and half the spectators at Atlético Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano, which has a capacity of 70,000.
TieneLore also compared the stadium with England's Wembley, which holds 90,000 people, and Spain's Camp Nou, which has a capacity of 105,000 after renovation.
The publication mentioned VinFast - Trống Đồng's 80-metre support columns, a steel structure weighing more than 15,000 tonnes, and construction work carried out around the clock. The four stands, A, B, C and D, are being built at the same time. Concrete has already been poured for the third-floor roof slabs in some areas, while lifting towers are being completed to move the steel dome modules into position.
According to the schedule cited by foreign media, the reinforced-concrete structure is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Work will then move to the domed roof, electrical systems and finishing. The stadium is targeted for completion in July 2027, earlier than the original August 2028 deadline.
