A weak cold-air outbreak on October 21–22 is expected to bring rain to northern and central Vietnam. Some areas could see heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Vietnam’s National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that on October 18, scattered showers and thunderstorms occurred in eastern Dak Lak province, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong and the southern region, with heavy rain in some places.

Those areas are expected to continue seeing showers and scattered thunderstorms on the night of October 18. Rainfall is forecast at 10–30 mm, with some locations receiving more than 80 mm.

The southern region and Lam Dong are expected to have rain and thunderstorms in many places through October 21 under the influence of a low-pressure trough. After October 21, the trough will weaken and the rain will become more scattered.

Northern Vietnam and the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue are expected to have isolated rain at night, light fog in some places early in the morning and sunny conditions during the day through October 20.

However, on October 21–22, the north and central regions could be affected by a weak cold-air outbreak. Combined with the terrain in central Vietnam, it is expected to bring rain to the northeastern region, the provinces from Ha Tinh to Da Nang and eastern Quang Ngai province. Some places could receive heavy to very heavy rain.
