Vietnam's Ministry of Health asked Shopee Vietnam to stop selling and remove information about Sausando Slimming capsule.
On October 16, the leadership of the Vietnam Food Safety Authority said a post-market inspection found the product advertised and sold on the Shopee e-commerce platform even though it had not received a certificate of registration for the product declaration.
The product was advertised as using Japanese biotechnology and as helping increase energy metabolism, burn fat effectively and restore muscles.
The product was advertised and sold on Shopee with information about product declaration registration certificate No. 5218/2023/ĐKSP, dated June 16, 2023.
However, after checking the database of issued product declaration registration certificates, the Vietnam Food Safety Authority said it had not issued certificate No. 5218/2023/ĐKSP dated June 16, 2023 for the product.
To protect users' health and rights and ensure that functional food businesses comply with regulations, the Vietnam Food Safety Authority asked Shopee Co., Ltd. to stop selling the product and remove information about it.
The authority also asked Shopee to urgently review the sale and e-commerce transactions of functional foods and sell only products that have been granted a product declaration registration certificate by a competent state agency or have been published on the updated food safety information data system in accordance with regulations.
