On the evening of October 17 in Hanoi, the Central Committee of Vietnam's Fatherland Front held a program to launch the 2026 “For the Poor” campaign month, along with a meeting and ceremony honoring organizations and individuals that made major contributions to social welfare from 2024 to 2026. The program's theme was “Great unity, spreading national solidarity and fraternity.” Party, government, National Assembly, Fatherland Front and central agency leaders attended.

Mobilizing social resources to help people in need

The program responded to the “For the Poor, Leave No One Behind” movement launched by the prime minister and continued efforts to mobilize social resources for poor people, those facing hardship and other vulnerable groups.

The event honored 225 businesses, organizations and individuals for practical support to people affected by natural disasters, the construction and repair of temporary housing, assistance to poor people, activities commemorating meritorious contributions and other social welfare programs from early 2024 through September 2026.

Representatives present awards to outstanding organizations and individuals

The honorees included 39 state-owned groups and general corporations, 23 banks and credit institutions, 26 joint-stock and private companies, 30 small and medium-sized businesses, 9 foreign-invested and foreign companies, 21 religious organizations or individuals, 16 charitable clubs, teams and groups, 6 artists and athletes, and 40 entrepreneurs and philanthropists. Private hospitals, the Vietnamese community overseas and international organizations were also included.

Organizers said social welfare programs in 2024–2026 were carried out amid complicated natural disasters, storms and floods that caused major losses of life, property and livelihoods.

Organizations and individuals honored at the ceremony

In 2024, Vietnam Fatherland Front units raised more than VND 7.305 trillion for the “For the Poor” Fund and social welfare programs. The money helped build or repair 53,646 solidarity houses, provide medical care to more than 1.86 million people, and support hundreds of thousands of pupils, students and people developing production.

In 2025, the nationwide program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing helped build or repair 334,234 homes and mobilized more than VND 24.7 trillion. After Typhoon Yagi in 2024, Fatherland Front units received more than VND 5.303 trillion in relief donations, while the 2025 campaign raised more than VND 4.15 trillion.

Launching the 2026 “For the Poor” campaign month

Speaking at the program, Bui Thi Minh Hoai, chairwoman of the Central Committee of Vietnam's Fatherland Front, said caring for poor people and those in difficult circumstances was the responsibility of the entire political system and society.

She said the program honored 225 groups and individuals representing businesses, social and religious organizations, artists, overseas Vietnamese and international partners.

Behind these examples are the solidarity of millions of people in Vietnam and overseas Vietnamese communities, as well as contributions from officials, soldiers, workers, elderly people who donated from their savings and children who gave their pocket money to flood victims.

On behalf of the Party, State and Vietnam's Fatherland Front, Bui Thi Minh Hoai thanked people for these contributions. She said the ceremony was intended to recognize their support and spread a spirit of sharing and responsibility toward the community.

According to Bui Thi Minh Hoai, during the new development period, the Party and State are focused not only on fast and sustainable economic growth but also on people's living standards, social progress and equality, especially for poor and vulnerable people, so that no one is left behind.

To improve poverty reduction efforts, she called on authorities, sectors, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations to continue mobilizing social resources. She said efforts should go beyond short-term relief to include jobs and livelihoods that help poor people improve their situation sustainably. Donations should be raised, managed and used more openly, transparently and for their intended recipients.

Bui Thi Minh Hoai called on agencies, businesses, philanthropists and Vietnamese people at home and abroad to continue supporting the “For the Poor” Fund and social welfare programs. She said every solidarity house, scholarship or livelihood support package helps poor people stabilize their lives.

She expressed confidence that the spirit of great unity, national solidarity and fraternity would continue to bring resources to poor people and those facing hardship.

On the same day, Bui Thi Minh Hoai launched the 2026 “For the Poor” campaign month. She called on agencies, businesses, philanthropists and Vietnamese people at home and abroad to support the “For the Poor” Fund and social welfare programs. Organizers announced that more than VND 336 billion had already been donated at the program.
