Beijing (VNA) - Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met Wang Huning, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, in Beijing on October 11 during his official visit to China.

Both sides hailed progress in Vietnam-China relations, including stronger political trust, closer legislative and consultative exchanges, practical cooperation across fields, and increasingly active people-to-people exchanges.

Man proposed maintaining exchanges at all levels, strengthening defence and security ties, improving economic, trade and investment cooperation, accelerating railway connectivity, expanding access for Vietnamese farm produce to the Chinese market, and advancing cooperation in science, technology and tourism.

Wang called for coordinated cooperation through all channels and levels, fuller use of the 3+3 strategic dialogue and other mechanisms, faster railway projects, and progress in trade, investment, smart border gates, cross-border economic zones, science and technology, artificial intelligence, the digital economy and the green economy.

China said it was ready to facilitate imports of Vietnamese farm produce and support Chinese investment in Vietnam. The two sides also agreed to expand people-to-people exchanges in tourism, education, culture and locality-to-locality cooperation.

The two sides agreed to step up multilateral coordination and support each other in hosting Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meetings in 2026 and 2027. They also pledged to better manage and settle differences, helping maintain peace and stability at sea and in the region.
