On October 8, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki and an embassy delegation met with the Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee to discuss the investment environment and potential areas of cooperation.
Phan Huy Ngoc, chairman of the provincial People's Committee, said administrative restructuring had expanded Tuyen Quang's development space, creating better conditions for using its land, forest resources, agriculture, processing industry, energy, tourism and border-gate economy.
Tuyen Quang plans to develop modern, green and sustainable industry. Its priorities include deep processing, agricultural and forestry processing, clean and renewable energy, and industries using advanced, environmentally friendly technologies.
Ngoc said Japan's strengths in technology, management, supporting industries and human-resource development fit the province's development direction. Tuyen Quang wants to increase exchanges with Japanese companies, identify their needs, propose suitable projects and attract more foreign direct investment.
Ambassador Ito Naoki said field visits to several projects and businesses provided more information about Tuyen Quang's development potential and priority areas for attracting investment. Japanese companies are increasingly interested in cooperation opportunities in Vietnam's provinces. The Japanese Embassy wants to continue discussing areas where both sides have strengths and needs, with a view to developing suitable projects.
The areas of interest include biomass energy, processing industry, high-tech agriculture, sustainable forestry, environmental protection, the green transition and human-resource training.
The provincial People's Committee chairman said Tuyen Quang values long-term cooperation with Japan. The province pledged to protect investors' lawful rights and interests and build a transparent, safe and equal investment environment. It also asked the embassy to continue connecting Japanese companies with investment opportunities.
The two sides plan to exchange information about priority projects, provincial plans and policies as a basis for turning cooperation opportunities into specific projects.
Before the meeting, the Japanese embassy delegation visited Erex Group's Tuyen Quang biomass power plant in Xuan Van Industrial Cluster, Xuan Van Commune, and Woodsland Tuyen Quang in Thang Quan Industrial Cluster, Yen Son Commune.
