General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam urged Danish companies at the Vietnam–Denmark Business Forum in Copenhagen on October 20 to expand investment in Vietnam, bring advanced technologies, develop innovation and green solutions, and strengthen links with local enterprises.

The forum was held during To Lam’s state visit to Denmark. It was attended by King Frederik X, representatives of ministries, agencies and local authorities, and businesses from both countries.
King Frederik X said Denmark is among the largest European investors in Vietnam. He said the countries have potential for cooperation in energy efficiency, logistics, food, biotechnology and healthcare. Danish businesses could create jobs and help local people develop new skills.
The King called the forum an important stage in bilateral relations and expressed hope for practical solutions and new cooperation opportunities.
To Lam said Vietnam and Denmark have developed friendship and cooperation for more than half a century. Their relationship has moved from traditional development assistance to an equal and mutually beneficial partnership focused on green and sustainable development.
Despite global economic uncertainty, geopolitical conflicts, supply-chain disruptions, energy-price fluctuations and rising trade protectionism in 2026, Vietnam remains committed to macroeconomic stability, inflation control, major economic balances, growth and new space for development, he said.
Vietnam is entering a new development phase requiring rapid yet sustainable growth driven by science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, the green transition and higher productivity. To achieve its two centenary goals and double-digit growth in 2026–2030, the country will mobilise all economic sectors. Foreign-invested enterprises will remain an important part of the national economy.
Vietnam seeks advanced technologies, expertise, modern management practices, research and development, skilled workers and stronger links between foreign investors and domestic businesses, as well as investment capital. To Lam called on Danish enterprises to contribute to these efforts.
He said investors’ success is Vietnam’s success and that business interests should be linked to the interests of the country, its people and sustainable economic development. Vietnam will continue facilitating trade and investment, promoting technology transfer and strengthening domestic companies’ participation in sustainable value chains.
To Lam pointed to opportunities in renewable energy, logistics, seaports, green shipping, science and technology, innovation, environmental technology, water management, agriculture, food, healthcare, life sciences, green manufacturing, the circular economy and carbon-emission reduction.
He suggested Danish companies view Vietnam as a long-term manufacturing base, a logistics and innovation hub, a dynamic regional consumer market and an increasingly important link in global supply chains.
To Lam called on the Danish Government and relevant agencies to support Danish companies’ long-term investment in Vietnam, especially in renewable energy, infrastructure and logistics, high technology, the green transition, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and high-tech agriculture.
Vietnam hopes for greater Danish support in green finance, technology transfer, workforce training and business connectivity. To Lam called on Danish financial institutions and investment funds to join major strategic projects, and said the two countries should step up policy dialogue and investment promotion.
To Lam encouraged Danish companies to shift from “investing in Vietnam” to “investing alongside Vietnam,” from “producing in Vietnam” to “researching, innovating and making in Vietnam,” and from pursuing growth to embracing green and sustainable growth.
He called for stronger cooperation in clean energy, green logistics, low-carbon manufacturing, the circular economy and supply chains meeting European and international standards.
To Lam said Vietnam will continue improving its institutions and investment environment, streamlining administrative procedures, developing infrastructure, upgrading workforce skills, facilitating trade and investment and addressing investors’ concerns.
At the forum, To Lam and King Frederik X witnessed the exchange of cooperation documents covering life sciences, advanced biomedicine, digital healthcare transformation, innovation and human-resource development; chemicals, fertilisers and sustainable energy; offshore wind power; aviation supplies, supply chains and services; quantum science and information technology; and STEAM education.
