The Tam Binh Ward Investment and Construction Project Management Board and the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board signed an agreement on compensation, support and resettlement for residents affected by Metro Line 2, which will connect Thu Dau Mot with Ho Chi Minh City.
Le Huu Hao, director of the Tam Binh Ward Investment and Construction Project Management Board, said the agreement defines the responsibilities, tasks and coordination mechanism of the two organizations and provides a basis for work according to the schedule.
Compensation and resettlement
The project is intended to improve public transport, strengthen connections between areas and reduce pressure on roads. Construction is planned to start in late 2026 and finish in 2030.
Compensation, support and resettlement are needed to prepare the construction site. The work affects the rights, lives and livelihoods of residents affected by the project, and officials said it must be carried out openly and transparently.
Vu Minh Huyen, deputy head of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board, said the work would create conditions for construction. She said the two organizations would implement the agreement, prepare the site and protect residents' lawful rights and interests.

Nguyen Van Khuon, deputy chairman of the Tam Binh Ward People's Committee, said local authorities considered compensation, support and resettlement an important task. The work should follow regulations, cover the correct beneficiaries and apply the relevant policies.
He asked the organizations to turn the agreement into a plan with clear tasks, deadlines and responsibilities. The parties should exchange information, resolve problems and explain the policy to residents.
The organizations were also asked to hold meetings and dialogues with residents, consider their concerns and handle legitimate requests. Tam Binh Ward pledged to coordinate within its functions and involve community organizations.
Metro line planned with 24 stations
The approximately 35.1-kilometer project is intended to connect the center of the former Binh Duong province with central Ho Chi Minh City.
The line will connect with Metro Line 1 on the New Binh Duong City to Suoi Tien section and end at Tao Dan Station, where it meets Metro Line 2, Ben Thanh to Tham Luong.
The line is planned to have 24 stations: 13 underground and 11 elevated. The approximately 33-hectare Hiep Binh Phuoc depot is planned for Tam Binh and Hiep Binh wards.
The metro is being studied as a double-track, electrified line with a 1.435-meter gauge. The design speed is up to 100 kilometers per hour on elevated sections and 90 kilometers per hour underground.
The project also includes trains and electromechanical, telecommunications, signaling, control and automatic fare collection systems.
