Rain and thunderstorms are expected in Ho Chi Minh City and other parts of southern Vietnam on October 20, with heavy rain possible in some areas.

The Southern Regional Hydro-Meteorological Center forecasts cloudy conditions, showers and scattered thunderstorms in Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces and cities of southern Vietnam, with heavy rain possible in some places.

Temperatures will range from 23 to 26°C at night and from 30 to 33°C during the day, with some areas exceeding 33°C.

The weather service said a low-pressure trough over southern Vietnam will remain active, keeping rain and thunderstorms in the region.

In the Mekong Delta provinces, rain may begin early in the morning. More rain is expected in areas of the former provinces of Dong Thap, Can Tho, Vinh Long and Long An. In the other provinces and cities, rain will mainly occur in the afternoon and evening. Heavy rain is possible in Dong Nai and Lam Dong.

In Ho Chi Minh City, rain is expected in the afternoon and evening. Local flooding is possible in some areas, especially where drainage systems are limited.

Meteorologists advised residents to follow weather forecasts and warnings when planning their routes and to avoid deeply flooded areas during heavy rain. Road users should stay alert and reduce speed on wet roads. Other hazardous conditions, including strong wind gusts, lightning and squalls, are also possible.
