The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said northern Vietnam will have stable weather on October 12, with sunny conditions during the day and cool weather at night and in the early morning. Meanwhile, areas from Hue to Da Nang and the eastern parts of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak will continue to see rain, locally heavy, with thunderstorms.
Rainfall in these areas is expected to total 20–40mm, with isolated amounts above 80mm.
Earlier, on October 11, some parts of central Vietnam recorded very heavy rain. From 7am to 3pm, Tram Thanh station in Quang Ngai recorded 207.8mm, while Tra Giap station in Da Nang recorded 193.2mm.
The weather agency warned that localised heavy rain could cause flooding in low-lying areas, flash floods on rivers and small streams, and landslides on slopes.
From the evening of October 12, Quang Tri may see scattered showers and thunderstorms, with isolated heavy rain. Rain and thunderstorms will continue in the southern region and the Central Highlands during the evening and night. Thunderstorms may bring tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong wind gusts.

South Central Coast: Mostly cloudy. The northern part of the region, including Da Nang, and the eastern parts of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak will have rain, locally heavy, and thunderstorms. The south may see scattered showers and thunderstorms, with scattered heavy rain during the evening and night. Northeasterly winds at level 2–3. Temperatures will be 23–26°C at night and 29–32°C during the day.
Central Highlands: Cloudy, with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Showers and thunderstorms will occur in some areas during the afternoon and evening, with isolated heavy rain. Light winds. Temperatures will be 20–23°C at night, below 20°C in some places, and 28–31°C during the day.
Southern region: Cloudy, with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some areas will have rain and thunderstorms during the day and night, with isolated heavy rain. Light winds. Temperatures will be 23–26°C at night and 30–33°C during the day, above 33°C in some places.
Ho Chi Minh City: Cloudy, with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some areas will have rain and thunderstorms during the day and night, with isolated heavy rain. Light winds. Temperatures will be 24–26°C at night and 31–33°C during the day.
