Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet hosted an official welcome ceremony in Phnom Penh on Friday afternoon for Vietnamese Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng, who is on his first official visit to the neighbouring country.

After the two countries' national anthems were played, the leaders reviewed the guard of honour of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and introduced their delegations before proceeding to official talks. The talks are expected to focus on concrete measures to implement high-level agreements and commitments more effectively, give fresh momentum to bilateral cooperation, and contribute to peace, stability and development in the region.
Political trust between Việt Nam and Cambodia continues to deepen through regular high-level exchanges. Defence and security cooperation helps maintain security and a peaceful, friendly shared border. Trade, investment and tourism remain the main areas of bilateral relations. Two-way trade reached US$11.33 billion in 2025, up 11.7 per cent year on year. Việt Nam has 223 investment projects in Cambodia with total registered capital of nearly US$3.4 billion, making Cambodia the second-largest destination for Vietnamese overseas investment.
The two countries have also expanded cooperation in education, culture and people-to-people exchanges, particularly among younger generations.
Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Hưng and his Lao counterpart Saleumxay Kommasith visited the Laos–Việt Nam Friendship Park in Vientiane. The leaders laid flowers at the monument to President Hồ Chí Minh and Lao leaders Kaysone Phomvihane and Souphanouvong, and planted commemorative trees.
At the monument, representatives of the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to preserving and strengthening their great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion. Their long-standing relationship was forged in struggles for national liberation and strengthened through decades of cooperation in national construction and development.
