At its sixth session, the 20th-term People's Council of Phu Tho province, whose term runs from 2026 to 2031, unanimously passed four thematic resolutions on the morning of October 30.

They cover assigning the Hanoi People's Committee to lead the Minh Chau 2 Bridge and Minh Chau commune economic-axis road project, adjusting the second phase of Ring Road No. 4 between the former Binh Xuyen and Vinh Tuong districts, approving the Hai Ba Trung Bridge over the Lo River and its connecting road to the IC6 interchange on the Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway, and commenting on a proposal to adjust the administrative boundary between Hanoi and Phu Tho.

Closing the session, Phu Tho People's Council Chairman Bui Duc Hinh said the resolutions provide a legal basis for carrying out tasks within the authorities' remit, improving transport links and strengthening regional cooperation.

He asked the provincial People's Committee to quickly implement the resolutions, clearly assign responsibilities to each agency and set implementation timelines in line with regulations.

For the transport infrastructure resolutions, the provincial People's Committee is to coordinate with Hanoi within its authority, address difficulties and ensure consistent project implementation.

For the boundary adjustment resolution, the provincial People's Committee will direct relevant agencies to coordinate closely and carry out all assigned tasks in accordance with the law.

Earlier, the Phu Tho People's Committee announced the results of a public consultation on the proposal to adjust the administrative boundary between Hanoi and Phu Tho.

More than 97% of all households in Phu Tho supported transferring more than 4,006 hectares of the Ba Vi National Park area, currently within Phu Tho's administrative boundary, to Hanoi's management.

On October 28, the Hanoi People's Council also approved a resolution giving its opinion on the proposed administrative boundary adjustment between Hanoi and Phu Tho.

Proposed change in the area and population of administrative units between Phu Tho and Hanoi

After the adjustment, Hanoi's area will increase by 1.19% to 3,399.90 square kilometers, reaching about 136% of the 2,500-square-kilometer standard for centrally governed cities. Phu Tho's area will decrease by 0.43% to 9,321.32 square kilometers, meeting the standard for a mountainous province.
