After directives from Dinh Van Noi, deputy secretary of the An Giang provincial Party Committee and secretary of the Party Committee of Phu Quoc special zone, nearly 1,000 outstanding land cases belonging to residents were resolved.

The Phu Quoc special zone People's Committee said on the morning of October 17 that, after one week of round-the-clock work following Dinh Van Noi's instructions, local agencies had jointly processed nearly 1,000 of 3,460 outstanding and overdue land cases.

According to the People's Committee, the officials involved worked on Saturdays, Sundays and at night to issue first certificates of land-use rights to residents. This helped close a significant number of cases.

Nearly 1,000 cases were processed in one week. About 700 were successfully updated in the public services system, while the rest are still being entered because of a slow internet connection.

To achieve the result in a short time, officials handled a large workload, including problems involving policy mechanisms, determining land origins and resettlement planning.

Land officials in Phu Quoc special zone work on weekends and at night to process residents' land cases.

Nguyen Van Duong, an official at the Phu Quoc special zone branch of the An Giang provincial Land Registration Office, said the certificate-issuing teams regularly checked land origins. They worked with neighborhood leaders, local residents and elderly people who had lived in the areas for many years to establish each plot's origin clearly. The aim was to prevent overlapping certificates or mistakes in identifying land origins.

Dang Thi My Phuong, from neighborhood 11 in Duong Dong, said: “I was told this morning that I could come to collect my land certificate. I am very happy and hope the local authorities can keep this momentum so residents have less trouble with paperwork.”

Nguyen Hong Ngoc, from neighborhood 5 in Duong Dong, said: “The committee called me in today to receive my land documents. I am very happy because I have been processing this certificate for more than ten years.”

Previously, Phu Quoc special zone still had a large number of overdue administrative procedures. Land-related procedures accounted for more than 3,000 overdue cases on the public services portal. On October 9, Dinh Van Noi visited the Phu Quoc special zone's public administration service center, inspected the situation and ordered officials to resolve residents' land cases so people would not have to carry their documents from office to office or face delays.
