The Michelin Guide announced on October 1 that it will expand its restaurant selection in Vietnam to Phu Quoc. The island's first listings are expected in the middle of 2027, the same year Phu Quoc is due to host APEC.

Phu Quoc will be the fourth Vietnamese destination covered by Michelin inspectors after Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. The article names restaurants that could attract attention, but their possible awards remain speculation until Michelin completes its independent, anonymous inspections.

Among the restaurants mentioned are Pink Pearl at JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort, Seta and Mare at La Festa Phu Quoc, Corallo, COCO Beach House, Herring Bar and The Home Pizza. Local noodle restaurants Bun Quay Kien Xay, Thanh Hung and Bun Ken Ut Luom are also cited as places inspectors may consider. Their dishes include bun quay, bun ken, seafood, herring salad and fish sauce based preparations.

Michelin Guide International Director Gwendal Poullennec said the island's fishing village food culture, seafood, fish sauce and pepper stand out alongside a growing resort restaurant scene. The guide's expansion is expected to bring more attention to both resort restaurants and local eateries, although the final selection has not been announced.
