On the morning of October 31, Hue's city People's Committee held a conference to present tourism stimulus measures and new tourism products through 2027.
Tran Huu Thuy Giang, deputy chairman of Hue's city People's Committee, called on agencies, local authorities and businesses to develop products for the rainy season and the low season. Hue should offer visitors more than coffee under the rain before they leave, he said, with activities that can keep them in the city.
He said the new products must be practical, feasible to organize and suited to visitors' needs. Ideas should be backed by investment and carefully organized, with businesses taking a meaningful role so that visitors receive a clear experience.
At the conference, the deputy chairman also introduced the Hue International Light Festival. It is a major event of the Hue Festival and is planned for June 11–13, 2027, at the floating stage behind Quoc Hoc High School on the bank of the Huong River.
According to Tran Huu Thuy Giang, the festival's main symbol will be a phoenix, or linh phung, one of the four sacred images associated with Hue's imperial culture.
During the opening of the 2027 festival, the phoenix is planned to take flight from Hue Imperial City and fly over the Huong River. Organizers plan to bring together 10 international teams for competitions in light performances and drone shows.
The festival will take place at the same time as the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, which is already well known. The deputy chairman said the light festival could develop its own identity in Hue, while the two events would complement each other and offer new experiences to residents and visitors.
After 2027, the Hue International Light Festival is planned to take place every year. The city also presented an international music and Hue heritage week and a creative reality television program as other major events planned for 2027.
As part of the tourism stimulus plan through 2027, businesses presented promotional offers. The city also discussed a medical tourism development project combining medical services, treatment, health care, leisure and tourism experiences.
City leaders asked organizations to make effective use of the new products and events and make them attractive to the public. Businesses should prepare service packages, tours and experience programs to extend visitors' stays and increase their spending.
The city also presented an artificial intelligence platform to help tourists create personalized itineraries.
