On October 28, at a meeting with officials from Hoi An, West Hoi An, East Hoi An and Tan Hiep Commune, Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, vice chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee, asked the local administrations to publish hotline numbers for complaints from tourists and residents. Reports must be processed within 24 hours of receipt.

Da Nang's leaders acknowledged the localities' efforts in managing and developing tourism, preserving cultural heritage, maintaining the tourism environment and urban order, and promoting socio-economic development. They said that shortcomings remain.

To attract visitors to Hoi An sustainably, the city leadership asked the local administrations to study and develop tourism products based on culture and heritage.

"The core products should be repositioned, while new products with stories and cultural experiences should be developed to improve quality and meet rising demand as competition among destinations intensifies," Nguyen Thi Anh Thi said.

For tourism management, the vice chairwoman asked local administrations and relevant agencies to increase inspections and patrols in crowded areas, pedestrian streets, attractions and public spaces. They should promptly detect and handle violations involving public order, traffic safety and the illegal occupation of roads and pavements.

Particular attention should be given to inspections and strict action against touting, competing for customers, street vending and disguised begging in Hoi An Ancient Town, the Bay Mau coconut forest and other attractions.

The authorities were also asked to review and deal with makeshift parking areas that charge fees unlawfully, measure noise levels and fine bars and pubs that violate sound standards after 10 p.m., helping maintain a civilised, safe and welcoming tourism environment.

Along with publishing hotline numbers for tourists and residents, Da Nang's leaders asked the local administrations to report the progress and results of each case. They should promptly report complicated cases beyond their authority and propose solutions.

The vice chairwoman also asked relevant departments to conduct a comprehensive inspection of tourism service businesses in the city, including price displays, the origin of goods and products, standards and food-safety conditions.
