Ho Chi Minh City and other southern Vietnamese provinces are forecast to be sunny during the day on October 26, with isolated showers and thunderstorms possible in the evening and at night.
Overnight temperatures are expected to range from 24 to 27°C, while daytime temperatures will reach 31 to 34°C.
Over the past 24 hours, the highest daily tide level at most stations on the Saigon River rose slowly and remained high.
On the morning of October 25, the measured water level at some stations reached 1.63 m in Thu Dau Mot, 0.05 m above warning level 3. Nha Be reached 1.52 m, close to warning level 3, while Phu An reached 1.50 m, at warning level 2.
Over the next few days, the highest daily water level at most stations on rivers, canals and waterways in Ho Chi Minh City is expected to continue rising during the ninth lunar month's spring tide.
The tide is forecast to peak from October 26 to 28, corresponding to the 17th to 19th days of the ninth lunar month. Water levels at the Phu An and Nha Be stations may reach 1.70 to 1.75 m, or 0.10 to 0.15 m above warning level 3. At Thu Dau Mot, levels may reach 1.80 to 1.86 m, or 0.20 to 0.26 m above warning level 3.
The peak tide is expected to occur daily at around 5:00 to 7:00 a.m. or 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The meteorological agency warned that tide levels at the stations will remain high over the coming days. Residents in low-lying areas and along rivers should be alert to flooding when heavy rain coincides with the high tide, which could affect traffic and daily activities.
