Authorities in Binh Khanh, Ho Chi Minh City, reviewed compensation, site clearance and utility relocation for Can Gio Bridge, the Rung Sac interchange with the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, and the Ben Thanh - Can Gio metro.
One case remains at the Rung Sac interchange
The Binh Khanh People's Committee said compensation and site clearance had made substantial progress with support from most residents.
As of November 3, land had been handed over in 99 of 100 cases for the Rung Sac interchange, covering 21.4 hectares, or 99.86%. For the Ben Thanh - Can Gio metro, land had been handed over in 207 of 251 cases, or nearly 88.98%.
Huynh Le Cong Truong of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction told Thanh Niên that the city planned to start major transport and urban infrastructure projects in the fourth quarter of 2026. They include Can Gio Bridge, costing more than VND 13.2 trillion. The cable-stayed bridge will connect Nha Be with the former Can Gio District and replace the Binh Khanh ferry.
Officials reported difficulties at construction sites. Some households near the construction boundaries had not finished dismantling their structures, which could pose safety risks when heavy machinery operates.
Pham Minh Chau, deputy chairman of the Binh Khanh People's Committee, proposed solutions and called for affected households' circumstances to be considered while removing obstacles to keep construction on schedule.

Authorities call for responsibility
Nguyen Thanh Doan, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of the Binh Khanh People's Committee, said Can Gio Bridge, the Rung Sac interchange and the Ben Thanh - Can Gio metro were important to local development and residents' expectations.
He instructed local authorities to work urgently, avoid evading responsibility and stop shifting it between agencies.

Doan said compensation and support policies were being carefully considered to protect residents' interests within the law. Agencies should continue explaining the projects and encouraging residents to hand over land soon, while following regulations to speed up construction.
