Thousands of residents and visitors gathered at Tay Lake in Hanoi on the evening of October 10 for fireworks marking the 72nd anniversary of Capital Liberation Day, commemorated on October 10, 1954 and October 10, 2026.

According to observations by a Dân trí reporter, people began arriving on the streets around Tay Lake early in the evening to find a good viewing spot and wait for the fireworks.

Large crowds gathered along streets beside Tay Lake, including Quang Khanh, Nguyen Dinh Thi, Trich Sai and Ve Ho. They waited for the fireworks to light up Hanoi's sky.

As the launch time approached, the area around the lake grew busier. Its wide expanse of water made Tay Lake one of the main places attracting spectators.

Under Hanoi's plan, the Capital Liberation Day fireworks took place simultaneously at three locations: Hoan Kiem Lake, Tay Lake and Van Quan Lake. The display began at 9 p.m. and lasted 15 minutes.

The Tay Lake launch site was set up near Quang Khanh Street in Tay Ho Ward. It included 1,800 high-altitude fireworks and 475 low-altitude fireworks.

The site also included 200 water-firework shells and 900 pyrotechnic units positioned on the lake.

At Hoan Kiem Lake, the launch site was placed in front of Hanoi Post Office. It included 1,725 high-altitude fireworks, 500 low-altitude fireworks and pyrotechnic units on the water.

The third site at Van Quan Lake in Ha Dong Ward was also prepared for residents in the southwestern part of the capital.

The fireworks formed part of Hanoi's cultural and arts program marking the anniversary of the capital's liberation.
