Ensuring a safe, stable and continuous power supply for Hanoi in its new development phase requires more than investment in power lines, substations and system capacity.
At Hanoi Power Corporation, EVN Hanoi pursues a consistent power supply through new management methods, science and technology, digital transformation and the gradual development of a smart power grid. These measures align with Politburo Resolutions No. 57-NQ/TW and No. 70-NQ/TW.
Hanoi is seeing growing demand for energy infrastructure as urbanisation and the development of industry, services, transport, data centres and the digital economy accelerate. Its power system must support daily consumption, production, business, central agencies, and major political and diplomatic events.
Resolution No. 70-NQ/TW, issued on August 20, 2025, sets the goal of ensuring national energy security and developing a modern, synchronous, competitive, transparent and efficient energy system. Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, dated December 22, 2024, identifies science and technology, innovation and national digital transformation as major drivers of socio-economic development.
For EVN Hanoi, these orientations are reflected in daily operations. Accurate data improve forecasting and monitoring, support early detection of abnormalities, and enable remote control and automation. Unmanned aerial vehicles inspect power lines, while remote monitoring systems and digital technical data address practical challenges.
At the Hanoi power system dispatch centre, dispatchers monitor grid conditions, load and equipment status, and respond to abnormal situations. Deputy Director Ngoc Long said technology has improved data access, grid monitoring and remote control.
Technology does not replace people. Centre operator Vu Duy Dai said staff must strengthen their professional and digital skills, understand the system and respond effectively to emerging situations.
EVN Hanoi's experience shows how Resolutions No. 57 and No. 70 are linked in modernising the capital's power system. Resolution No. 70 sets energy-system requirements, while Resolution No. 57 provides the technological force to meet them.
Science and technology, data, automation and skilled human resources will remain central to building a smart, modern and resilient power grid for Hanoi's growing needs.
