Because the November payment date for pensions and social insurance benefits sent to personal accounts falls on a weekend, recipients in many localities will receive the money later than usual.

According to guidance from Vietnam Social Security, pension and monthly benefit payments to personal accounts are made on the first working day of the month or on the second day, depending on the locality.

Hanoi recipients will receive pensions on November 3

Twenty-one localities make payments on the first working day of the month: Son La, Dien Bien, Lang Son, Nghe An, Quang Ninh, Cao Bang, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Hue, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Dak Lak, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Vinh Long, Ca Mau and An Giang.

Thirteen localities make payments on the second day of each month: Hanoi, Lai Chau, Thanh Hoa, Thai Nguyen, Hai Phong, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Lao Cai, Quang Ngai, Da Nang, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh and Dong Thap.

If a pension or social insurance benefit payment date falls on a weekly rest day or public holiday, payment is moved to the next working day. As a result, recipients in localities that normally pay at the beginning of the month may receive their November pensions and benefits one or two days late.

In Hanoi, pensions and social insurance benefits paid to personal accounts will be transferred on November 3 instead of November 2, as usual.

For people who receive cash, Hanoi Social Security will coordinate with the postal service to make payments after November 5. Payments are expected to run for at least six hours each day to make them more convenient for recipients.

VNeID connected to pension and social insurance benefit payments

Alongside the adjustment for weekends, government agencies are implementing a digital process for receiving pensions and social security benefits.

Since October 2026, the electronic identification app VNeID has offered a feature for linking pension and social insurance benefit payments. The feature is intended to simplify the process for residents.

In November and December 2026, Vietnam Social Security will connect and exchange data with the electronic identification system to manage recipient information, handle benefit policies, and organize social insurance and unemployment insurance payments.

From 2027, payments to social security accounts will be made under the relevant regulations. The change in payment method is being introduced in stages to protect recipients' entitlements.

People who are not yet eligible to receive money through a social security account on VNeID will continue to receive pensions, benefits and other payments through a suitable method without interruption.

Connecting VNeID to the social insurance and unemployment insurance payment system is intended to support cashless payments, help reconcile data and reduce information errors, making social benefits easier for residents to access.
