Hanoi inaugurated projects, opened a road section to technical traffic and broke ground on major works on Friday, October 9, ahead of the 72nd anniversary of Capital Liberation Day, observed on October 10. The city announced 292 projects with a combined investment of VND384.886 trillion (US$14.92 billion), including 18 key projects worth VND127.46 trillion covering transport, infrastructure, environmental protection and public services.
A major event was the opening to technical traffic of a 15km section of the Ring Road 4 parallel road, from the Huu Hong dyke and Hong Ha Bridge area to Thang Long Boulevard. The 58.2km project, launched in June 2023, is about 90 per cent complete. Hanoi plans to open two more sections totalling 22km in November and complete the entire parallel road this year.
The projects also include three sections of Ring Road 2.5 spanning 2.2km, Yen So Bus Station for 800 to 1,000 daily vehicle trips, a second Hanoi Heart Hospital facility with 300 beds, an elevated road along Co Linh Street and Giang Bien inland waterway port.
Environmental projects include upgrading dykes, dredging and tackling pollution along the Nhue River, with preliminary investment of more than VND75 trillion, and a VND11.681 trillion project to clean up the Cau Bay River. A wastewater system is planned for western Hanoi. The first phase of Tien Thang Industrial Park will cover more than 230ha, receive VND4.455 trillion and is expected to create more than 16,000 jobs.
Tourism and cultural projects include a space along 131 railway arches near Long Bien Bridge, a 299ha Ba Vi Safari Park, a US$420 million entertainment complex with a horse-racing track in Soc Son and a US$120 million complex in Dong Anh. Hanoi will also develop three multilevel schools. A cybersecurity centre and centralised data centre worth nearly VND4.5 trillion are due in February 2028.
Hanoi People's Committee Chairman Vu Dai Thang urged investors to meet deadlines, maintain construction quality and avoid cost overruns. He also called for faster land clearance and infrastructure solutions, worker safety and minimal disruption to residents. VNA/VNS.
