On October 25, the Gia Lai Department of Health said dengue outbreaks had been reported in many parts of the province. Pleiku recorded 107 cases, Krong Pa 92, Chu Prong 73, Chu Se 53, Dak Doa 43 and Hoai An 33 cases.
Seventeen new outbreak sites, involving hundreds of cases, appeared in the past week alone. Since the start of the year, authorities have recorded 450 outbreak sites and more than 9,000 dengue cases, an increase of more than 6,000 cases from 2025.
Gia Lai health officials said prolonged wet weather in many areas was creating favorable conditions for disease-carrying mosquitoes to breed and spread, increasing the risk of transmission and driving the sustained rise in cases.

The Gia Lai Center for Disease Control has worked with local authorities to strengthen prevention measures, including spraying chemicals, removing mosquito larvae and cleaning the environment.
As dengue cases have risen sharply compared with the same period last year, provincial health officials have stepped up public communications. Residents are advised to remove unnecessary water-holding items, keep household water containers covered, regularly clean the area around their homes and eliminate mosquito larvae.
People with symptoms that may indicate dengue should visit a medical facility for examination, monitoring and timely treatment. They should not self-medicate at home, to avoid dangerous complications.
