On October 22, Dong Nai police said that the Immigration Management Division and the Security Investigation Agency had opened six criminal cases over organizing the illegal entry and stay of people in Vietnam. Seven defendants are involved: five Vietnamese citizens and two Chinese citizens.
The Criminal Police Division also opened a case involving the use of computer networks, telecommunications networks and electronic devices to appropriate property. Four defendants are involved in that case: three Vietnamese citizens and one Chinese citizen.
Earlier, Dong Nai police detected eight cases of people entering Vietnam illegally from Cambodia, involving 129 foreigners. They stayed illegally in Phu Vinh and Loc Thanh communes and in the Tran Bien, Tam Hiep and Tan Khai wards. They came to Dong Nai to form online fraud groups.
Under instructions from the Ministry of Public Security, Dong Nai police continue to work with specialized units on a large-scale review, inspection and enforcement campaign targeting foreigners who entered Vietnam illegally or are residing in the country unlawfully. The authorities said they would work to prevent the formation of crime groups involving foreigners.
