Experts discussed building a smart economic ecosystem that uses data, technology and investment resources at a seminar in Dong Nai City.

The event, titled Developing an Ecosystem of Smart Logistics Cities, Airports and Seaports, addressed infrastructure connectivity and supply chains as they become more important to Dong Nai's competitiveness as a national industrial and logistics hub.

Duong Van Hieu, deputy director of Dong Nai's Department of Construction, said the discussion covered spatial development, infrastructure investment and competitiveness as well as digital technology for transport and warehousing.

Dong Nai is approaching an opportunity to develop around the new Long Thanh International Airport, expected to begin commercial operations in late December. The province also has seaports, industrial zones, an inter-regional transport network and logistics hubs.

Long Thanh Airport is central to the city's plans. Together with the Phuoc An and Go Dau-Phuoc Thai seaport systems, industrial zones and inter-regional road and rail infrastructure, it creates opportunities for logistics services, multimodal transport, international trade and aviation-linked economic activity.

The task is to make these infrastructure systems function as a unified whole. Dong Nai also needs smart connectivity and operating models suited to the emerging economic system.

The seminar covered planning and logistics infrastructure, logistics data sharing, practical digital technologies and coordination mechanisms with an implementation roadmap. Delegates discussed multimodal supply chains, connections among urban areas, airports, seaports and industrial zones, and ecosystems for science, innovation, digital transformation and green industry aligned with net-zero goals.

The event also examined smart urban development using artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and digital twins.

Vietnam Post representative Le Quoc Anh said Dong Nai should develop its airports, seaports and industrial zones while strengthening inter-regional connectivity. Different products have different logistics timelines, quality requirements and costs, so service chains should match each customer segment.

Discussion of logistics solutions for industry and agriculture

For agriculture, Anh suggested a chain from production areas to consumer markets integrating collection, storage, transport and distribution. It should reduce losses, control costs, maintain product quality and improve the value received by businesses.

For other industries, he recommended co-designed solutions, improved service chains and standardised coordination. Nguyen Minh Quang, deputy director of the city's Department of Science and Technology, asked agencies to prepare feasible plans based on practical needs and measure results by time, costs and beneficiaries.
