Several videos circulated on social media on October 5 showing a group of children flying a bamboo kite. One child held onto the string and was pulled dozens of metres into the air.
According to the information posted with the videos, the incident took place in Cho Moi Commune, An Giang Province.

The videos show a group of teenagers flying a large kite. Its wingspan can reach about 10 metres, creating strong pulling force while it is in the air. People stood nearby watching.
After the kite was launched, one of the organisers called a boy over and invited him to "fly" with it. The child was shown how to hold the string.
Within minutes, the kite's pull lifted the boy from the ground to a height of dozens of metres. He remained suspended for more than five minutes. People at the scene recorded the incident.
The same action was later repeated several times with other children. The videos drew mixed reactions online.
Many users called the activity especially dangerous. If the string broke, the child lost balance or the kite changed direction, a fall from that height could cause serious injury.
A representative of the Cho Moi Commune administration said local authorities were aware of kite flying in several areas. In some cases, children had held onto or hung from kite strings.
The administration said the circulated videos had been recorded several weeks earlier. After receiving residents' reports, the local authorities and commune police increased inspections, provided safety reminders and ordered people to stop dangerous activities involving kite strings.
Local authorities also urged residents not to let children take part in activities that could threaten their lives and to prevent similar incidents.
