During Vietnam's state visit to Denmark from October 19 to 21, 2026, Carlsberg executives took part in high-level discussions. The group described Vietnam as one of its key growth markets and confirmed that it would continue investing, introducing new solutions and developing sustainable production in the country.
In October 2026, Carlsberg again stated its long-term commitment to Vietnam. Group CEO Jacob Aarup-Andersen joined discussions on stronger economic cooperation between Vietnam and Denmark, new investment opportunities and sustainable development.
Carlsberg was one of the first Danish multinational groups to invest in Vietnam. The company linked the visit to more than three decades of work and cooperation with local partners.
One of the visit's events was a state banquet at the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek art museum in Copenhagen. Carl Jacobsen, son of Carlsberg founder J.C. Jacobsen, established the museum, which opened in 1897. The site is associated with the Carlsberg family's tradition of philanthropy and hosted an event dedicated to the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Denmark.
At a meeting with Danish business leaders, Jacob Aarup-Andersen called Vietnam one of Carlsberg's key growth markets and expressed confidence in the country's long-term prospects. João Abecasis, Carlsberg's executive vice president for Asia, also attended the Vietnam-Denmark Business Forum, where participants discussed ways to improve Vietnam's industrial competitiveness.
New investment in central Vietnam
During the visit, Jacob Aarup-Andersen handed letters of intent on investment to the chairmen of the People's Committees of Hue and Da Nang and outlined development plans for the two cities for 2026 to 2031.

In Hue, Carlsberg plans to invest about $65 million in the Phu Bai brewery from 2026 to 2031. The funds will support production modernization, digital and green transformation, supply-chain development, product quality and food safety.
The plan follows the nearly $90 million expansion of the Phu Bai brewery, which was inaugurated in August 2025. The project increased the brewery's annual production capacity by more than 50 percent, making Phu Bai Carlsberg's largest production site in Asia. In the next phase, the company plans to use advanced production technology, develop smart operations, improve resource efficiency and expand renewable energy use.

In Da Nang, Carlsberg plans to expand its business, modernize operations and develop a more efficient and sustainable logistics system. The group also intends to strengthen cooperation with local partners on environmental protection and community development projects.
Jacob Aarup-Andersen said: “Vietnam is one of Carlsberg's key markets. Our confidence in the country's long-term potential is based on more than three decades of presence, investment and work in this market. The Phu Bai brewery expansion project clearly demonstrates our commitment and creates a foundation for new growth opportunities. We want to combine Carlsberg's global strengths with deep local market knowledge to support the next stage of growth. The group will continue to improve operational efficiency, develop innovation and sustainable production, creating practical and long-term value for Vietnam.”
Strategic cooperation and growth in Vietnam
Beyond production investment, Carlsberg continues to look for new growth opportunities in Vietnam. The group recently signed an agreement with Sapporo Breweries to establish a strategic joint venture in six Southeast Asian markets and Hong Kong, including Vietnam. The addition of Sapporo Premium Beer will broaden Carlsberg's brand portfolio. In Vietnam, the cooperation is expected to create opportunities for brand development and business expansion.
By modernizing production, strengthening its commercial capabilities and expanding strategic cooperation, Carlsberg plans to develop its business in Vietnam over the long term, improve competitiveness and contribute to the economy and local communities. The company continues its mission to “brew beer for a better present and a brighter future.”
