On November 1, Ca Mau authorities approved investment proposals for two wind power plants, Ngoc Hien - Tan An 1 and Dong Hai 6.

Ngoc Hien - Tan An 1 will have total investment of more than VND 2.714 trillion and a capacity of 60 MW. The plant is expected to use 10 turbines, each with a capacity of 6 MW.

The project will be built in Tan An and Phan Ngoc Hien communes. It will require more than 362 hectares of sea area and share infrastructure with the Tan An 1 wind power plant.

Construction is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2026, with equipment installation planned for the first quarter of 2027 and commercial operation for the second quarter of 2027. The plant will operate for 50 years from the date the investor receives the investment approval document.

Dong Hai 6 will be built in Dinh Thanh commune, with investment of more than VND 1.018 trillion and a capacity of 30 MW. It is expected to generate about 75 million kWh per year. The project will use 10.34 hectares of land for a limited period.

Construction is scheduled to start in September 2027 or within 12 months of the investor's approval. The project is expected to be completed and begin commercial operation in September 2028 or within 24 months of the investor's approval.

Dong Hai 6 will operate for 50 years from the date of the decision to allocate or lease the land, or to change its land-use purpose for the selected investor.

Song Lam Hydropower Investment Joint Stock Company and XCE Energy Joint Stock Company submitted applications to carry out the Ngoc Hien - Tan An 1 and Dong Hai 6 projects, respectively.

The Ca Mau People's Committee assigned the provincial Department of Finance to conduct the investor selection procedure for the two wind power projects openly, transparently and in accordance with regulations.
