Ca Mau Province started construction on October 15 of 22 rural roads in 17 communes and two urban wards. The projects are intended to improve travel, goods transport and agricultural production for local residents.

The work is being carried out under Resolution No. 16-NQ/TU, adopted on August 26, 2026, on rural transport development in Ca Mau from 2026 to 2030.

Nguyen Ho Hai, secretary of the Ca Mau provincial Party Committee, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kenh Giua road in Hamlet 3 of Khanh An Commune. The section is more than 1 km long and has a 2.5-meter-wide reinforced-concrete surface. It also includes a melaleuca-pile embankment to prevent landslides. The project costs nearly VND 2.9 billion.

At the ceremony, the provincial Party Committee secretary recognized the participation of the authorities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, mass organizations and residents of Khanh An Commune. He called on the locality to complete its roads before 2030 and continue supporting one another and caring for residents’ material and spiritual well-being.

According to the provincial Party Committee secretary, Ca Mau’s waterways and dense network of canals make transport investment difficult. Many dirt roads have not been hardened, while concrete roads have deteriorated and are narrow. Flooding and landslides affect travel, goods transport and production. The province therefore needs a large-scale rural road-concreting program costing more than VND 14 trillion.

Residents and businesses were urged to contribute labor and materials so that all hamlets and villages can have modern, continuous concrete roads by 2030.

Under the rural transport development plan for 2026 to 2030 approved by the provincial People’s Committee, total funding will be about VND 14.048 trillion. The budget will provide about VND 12.397 trillion, while around VND 1.421 trillion is expected from social contributions for bridge construction and VND 230 billion from residents for culvert construction.

For the projects now under construction, the provincial Party Committee secretary called for stronger inspection and supervision to ensure progress, quality, appearance and investment efficiency. Local authorities must follow the required procedures, comply with technical standards and protect the environment. Residents were also urged to donate land, hand over sites and prepare roadbeds and cross-drainage culverts in advance.
