Bac Ninh is seeking buyers, distributors and processors for more than 118,000 tonnes of oranges, pomelos, apples and guavas due in late 2026 and early 2027. Authorities aim to widen markets and raise farm incomes.

The plan was presented at a conference on domestic and international consumption of key and signature fruits held on October 21, 2026, by the provincial People's Committee.

Output rises as markets lag

The four key fruits cover about 11,650 hectares. The municipal Department of Industry and Trade forecasts 118,525 tonnes in late 2026 and early 2027, up 18.7% from 2025: pomelo about 47,000 tonnes, apples 35,090, oranges 27,600 and guavas 8,835.

VietGAP areas total about 3,660 hectares for pomelo, 1,700 for oranges, 1,500 for apples and 800 for guavas. Harvests run from September 2026 to March 2027, requiring early sales plans as volumes rise.

As of October 16, 2026, the city had 91 growing area codes covering 1,764.9 hectares: 80 for exports and 11 for domestic sales. Pomelo gained six codes covering 29.6 hectares, with an estimated 940 tonnes for China pending importer approval. Guava has one code covering 2.9 hectares, with an estimated 18 tonnes for the Czech Republic.

Bac Ninh fruit moves through wholesale markets, traders, farm stores, supermarkets, buyers, processors and e-commerce. Dao Duong pink-fleshed pomelo reaches Russia, while guava goes to the UK.

Oranges and apples sell mainly at home, and some fruit markets remain unstable. Higher output and better quality need closer links among growers, standards, purchasing, preservation and distribution to raise value.

Building stronger links with buyers

Pham Van Thinh, vice chairman of the provincial People's Committee, told departments and localities to link production with consumption and supplies with market demand, while safeguarding quality, food safety, traceability and supply.

The Department of Industry and Trade will connect businesses and distributors, promote trade and e-commerce, seek export partners and help prepare the Bac Ninh Fruit Festival scheduled for late November 2026. The Department of Agriculture and Environment will map growing areas, output and harvest timing, advise on safe production, complete area and packing house codes, and promote processing and preservation. Other agencies will support science and technology, traceability and branding. Grassroots authorities will update supply data and connect companies with growers.

Businesses, cooperatives and farmers were told to plan around demand, raise quality, improve packaging and labels, and work with distributors, buyers, processors and exporters. Local leaders said results should appear in orders and agreements, not only meetings, to broaden markets and raise fruit values and farm incomes.

At the conference, cooperatives and producers signed agreements to sell 2026 oranges, pomelos, apples, guavas and other key farm produce to logistics firms, distribution systems and wholesale markets.
