Customs Sub-Department Region V is shifting from a management-oriented approach to service-focused work, applying information technology more actively and helping companies solve problems on the ground. The move is intended to speed up customs clearance and support exports.

According to the sub-department, it facilitated customs procedures for more than 7,000 companies in the first nine months of 2026 and processed over 2.3 million declarations, up 21% year on year. Import-export turnover in its jurisdiction reached 237.92 billion USD, an increase of 36%. State budget revenue exceeded 16 trillion VND, or 617.5 million USD. That was 99% of the assigned target and 41% higher than in the same period last year.

Trade grew as industrial production recovered. Exports by foreign-invested enterprises in the electronics and high-tech sectors in Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen provinces showed particularly strong growth. Orders for electronics, textiles and garments increased, as did demand for imported machinery and production equipment.

The quality of public services is measured by the satisfaction of residents and businesses. The sub-department is therefore carrying out administrative reforms and improving its services.

Pham Chi Thanh, head of Customs Sub-Department Region V, said the unit was focusing resources on a digital customs model and streamlined professional procedures. The changes are intended to shorten clearance times and reduce business costs while maintaining effective state management.

The sub-department has assigned qualified officials to positions responsible for receiving and processing dossiers. It is also making greater use of software tools to access intellectual property data, chemical lists and import-export information.

Since the beginning of the year, the sub-department's leaders have held working sessions at major factories. They listen to businesses' concerns and address operational obstacles.

The unit is now running a 100-day campaign to remove obstacles to digital transformation and help businesses comply with the law. This is intended to reduce the share of consignments sent for physical inspection.

Customs Sub-Department Region V aims to speed up the movement of goods, help businesses maintain production and expand exports, and contribute to Bac Ninh's economic growth.
