The provincial People's Committee has instructed relevant agencies to urgently study a road from the expressway to Tinh Bien and another route to Khanh Binh through National Highway 91C. The provincial administration says the links could shorten cargo routes and create room for investment and services in the border areas.
At Khanh Binh International Border Gate, cargo vehicles cross the Long Binh–Chrey Thom Bridge over the Binh Di River. The crossing connects to Cambodia's Chrey Thom Border Gate in Kandal province and provides access to Phnom Penh, about 75km away.
The province plans a logistics centre at each international border gate. The Khanh Binh centre is expected to connect with National Highway 91, the Binh Di River and new transport routes. The centre planned for Tinh Bien will link National Highway 91, National Highway N1, the Vinh Te Canal and the expressway. It is planned to cover more than 25 hectares and handle cargo transshipment and logistics.
An Giang shares a nearly 148km land border with Cambodia and has four international border gates: Tinh Bien, Ha Tien, Vinh Xuong and Khanh Binh. The provincial authorities also plan to upgrade roads leading to the gates, develop road and waterway transport, and apply digital technology to border-gate management.
