What is an eSIM, and who is Simway for?
An eSIM is a digital profile installed on your phone. After purchase, Simway emails you a QR code. Add the profile over Wi-Fi before your flight, then select it for mobile data in Vietnam. You can keep your primary SIM in the phone.
This setup suits a short trip when you need data for maps, ride-hailing, messaging and apps. The plan does not include a Vietnamese number, standard voice calls or SMS. If you are moving to Vietnam or need a local number for banks and services, compare local operator SIM plans.
How Simway eSIM works in Vietnam
Simway lists MobiFone, Viettel Mobile and VinaPhone networks. Its page says 5G is available on Viettel and VinaPhone, while MobiFone supports up to 4G. Your phone connects to an available network. Speed depends on coverage at your location.
Simway says Telegram works on its Vietnam plans without a VPN because traffic is routed through an overseas gateway. The plan provides mobile data, not a local phone number. You can leave your home SIM enabled for calls and messages; roaming charges depend on your home operator.
The checkout page lists Russian bank cards, Mir, SBP, SberPay and T-Pay. It says payments are processed through T-Bank. The QR code and receipt are sent by email.

Which package should you choose?
For maps, messaging and ride-hailing on a short trip, consider 3 GB for 15 days at RUB 429 or for 30 days at RUB 456. For regular video calls and photo uploads, consider 10 GB for 30 days at RUB 1,307 or 20 GB at RUB 1,800. The 5 GB, 30-day plan costs RUB 716.
On one-day plans, speed is reduced after the included data runs out: to 1 Mbps on 1–3 GB packages and to 384 Kbps on 5–10 GB packages. On the other plans, data access ends when the allowance is used up.
How to buy and install an eSIM before departure
- Open Simway Vietnam plans and choose the data allowance and validity period.
- Enter your email and pay using an available method.
- Check your inbox for the QR code and installation instructions.
- Add the eSIM in your phone settings while you have reliable Wi-Fi. Do not delete the profile after installation.
- After arrival, turn on the Simway line and select it for mobile data. Enable data roaming only if the plan instructions require it.
The validity period starts when the eSIM first connects to a network in Vietnam, not when you pay or install it. Simway says an eSIM installed in advance can be activated within 180 days of purchase.
What to check before buying
- Your phone must support eSIM and be unlocked from any carrier. Compatibility depends on the exact model and the market where it was sold.
- Dial *#06# and check whether an EID appears. Then confirm compatibility on the phone manufacturer’s website.
- Simway plans do not include a Vietnamese number, standard calls or SMS. Keep your primary SIM on if you need messages sent to it.
- Hotspot use is allowed. Tethering uses data from your package.
- Simway says its Telegram bot support is available 24/7. The site lists a full refund if the QR code has not been sent. Once the code is issued, requests are reviewed individually.
When a local SIM may be a better fit
Simway suits travellers who want mobile data without finding a phone shop after landing. For a long stay, a local number, voice calls or regular top-ups, compare Viettel, MobiFone and VinaPhone plans. See our Vietnam SIM card guide.
