Dental care in Vietnam: prices, treatment and choosing a clinic

A quoted dental price is useful only when you know what it includes. Ask whether the consultation, imaging, implant, abutment, crown, temporary restoration and follow-up are separate charges. The examples below are published prices from two Nha Trang clinics, not a national average or a promise that the same price is still available.

Published Nha Trang examples

The clinics' public price pages list specific examples: HiDentist lists Biotem implants at 7,000,000 VND and Megagen at 15,000,000 VND. Nha Khoa Viet Han lists a Dio implant with abutment at 12,900,000 VND and a metal-ceramic crown on an implant at 6,000,000 VND. These are separate clinic listings, so do not add or compare them as identical packages. Confirm the current quote, included parts and treatment eligibility directly with the clinic before booking.

How to choose a clinic

  1. Ask for the dentist's written diagnosis and proposed treatment options.
  2. Request an itemised quote in VND and ask which charges can change after imaging.
  3. For an implant, record the brand, model, abutment, crown material and warranty conditions.
  4. Ask who handles complications and how follow-up visits are scheduled.
  5. Keep scans, invoices, prescriptions and the treatment plan for your insurer.

Crowns, veneers and implants are different

A crown covers a prepared tooth. A veneer covers the front surface of a tooth. An implant replaces a missing tooth root and usually needs an abutment and crown. Ask the clinician to identify each component in the plan; a low implant price may not include the final restoration.

Urgent pain or injury

For facial swelling, fever with dental pain, uncontrolled bleeding, a knocked-out permanent tooth or trouble swallowing or breathing, seek urgent dental or medical care. Call your insurer's assistance line if the policy requires approval, but do not delay emergency care.

Before a long treatment plan

If you are visiting Vietnam briefly, ask whether the plan can be completed during your stay and what happens if an adjustment is needed after you leave. Get copies of imaging and records before departure.

Questions and answers

How much is a dental implant in Vietnam?

The price depends on the implant system and what the package includes. The clinic examples above are not directly interchangeable.

Does the implant price include a crown?

Not always. Ask for separate prices for the implant, abutment, crown, imaging and any bone graft.

Can a root canal be completed in one visit?

It depends on the tooth and diagnosis. The treating dentist should explain the visit plan.

Does travel insurance cover dental care?

Check your policy. Emergency dental treatment and planned restorative work may have different coverage.

Should I choose only by price?

No. Compare the written diagnosis, clinician, materials, included items, follow-up and complication policy.
