Things to Do in Da Lat

With one day in Da Lat, start around Xuan Huong Lake, the market and the historic railway station. On a second day, choose one excursion: Trai Mat and Linh Phuoc Pagoda, or the southern route toward Tuyen Lam Lake and Datanla Waterfall. These are separate trips rather than one walking loop.

Lake, market and central streets

Walk part of Xuan Huong Lake, then head uphill toward Da Lat Market. It is a good place to pause for food and see the city at work. The stops look close on a map, but gradients and traffic slow the walk. Leave time for side streets rather than racing between pins.

Railway station and Trai Mat train

The historic station is worth a stop even without a train ticket. When the tourist service to Trai Mat operates, combine it with Linh Phuoc Pagoda and its mosaic decoration. Check the timetable and ticket availability before travelling; tourist services can change.

South to Tuyen Lam and Datanla

Tuyen Lam Lake offers a slower waterside and forest visit. Datanla Waterfall can be added on the southern route; some activities there charge separately. This is beyond the central walking area, so plan transport and a return time. Paths and steps can be slippery after rain.

A manageable two-day plan

Pair the lake, market and station on day one. On day two, choose Trai Mat for the train and pagoda, or Tuyen Lam and Datanla for nature. Keep room for a café stop and a weather change; a packed checklist does little justice to the city.

Before you leave

  • Check current train schedules, opening arrangements and the day’s forecast.
  • Carry a light layer and shoes suited to wet steps and slopes.
  • Save your return address for rides back from places outside the centre.
